With this outline of the mechanics of our working skeleton, we can better understand how to use it efficiently in our everyday living. We can see how by allowing it to carry us about our affairs with minimum expenditure of effort, it can continue to fulfill its primary function of protection for the delicate vital organs and processes of our physical and mental life.

To accomplish these aims, a practical philosophy of thinking in relation to structural needs and functions must be encouraged. This furnishes an approach to Structural Hygiene.
